The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles have once again removed pitcher Ryota Takinaka from their active roster, marking his third demotion of the season. The decision was announced by Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) on May 11, following a brief start the previous day against the Seibu Lions. Takinaka lasted just 1 2/3 innings, surrendering two runs on several hits before being pulled from the game.
The 27-year-old right-hander has struggled to find consistency in the 2024 campaign, with this latest outing adding to a pattern of early exits. Rakuten’s pitching staff has been undergoing frequent adjustments as the team seeks stability in the Pacific League standings. Takinaka will now look to regain his form in the minors before earning another opportunity with the top club.
