Marius Bülter voiced his frustration after Köln fell to a 3-1 defeat in their last home match of the season, as Heidenheim moved off the bottom of the Bundesliga with a hard-earned victory. Although Bülter scored in back-to-back games for the first time since the early weeks of the campaign, the result left him deeply unsettled.
“From a tight angle, you know you have to shoot high,” the experienced winger said, reflecting on his 10th-minute strike. He quickly shifted focus to the lackluster team performance. “In the end, you have to say that we were just two or three percent short of winning the game today. You saw a team fighting for survival, and that wasn’t us. That was disappointing. We have to be careful not to let one bad game ruin the whole season.”
Köln will close their season on the road against league champions FC Bayern next Saturday. “Even if it’s difficult to accept after this game, we secured our place in the league with two matchdays to go,” Bülter concluded, maintaining a positive outlook despite the setback.
