Márquez Accepts Two-Year Ducati Contract Extension with Exit Clauses

Seven-time MotoGP champion Marc Márquez has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract renewal with Ducati, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. The deal would keep the Spanish rider with the factory team through the 2027 and 2028 seasons, aligning with Pedro Acosta’s contract duration, while Pecco Bagnaia is expected to vacate his seat.

Márquez initially proposed a 1+1 arrangement, but Ducati rejected the idea, arguing it could disrupt the brand’s plans and affect other riders, such as Gresini’s Fermín Aldeguer. The seven-time champion then accepted the two-year counteroffer but insisted on including exit clauses that would allow him to leave before the contract ends.

According to Marca, Márquez wanted the flexibility to walk away at any time, citing concerns over his physical condition following a series of injuries and surgeries in recent months, including the crash and its aftermath at the French Grand Prix. Recognizing Márquez’s commercial and media value, Ducati also plans to offer him a brand ambassador role once the Spaniard decides to retire from racing.

While official announcements are pending due to ongoing negotiations between MotoGP SEG (the series’ commercial name under Liberty Media) and teams, the continuation of the Márquez-Ducati partnership is widely considered a certainty.
