Shanghai Shenhua captain Wu Xi has stated that he intends to focus on competitive football for at least the next two years, believing he still has plenty to offer the team.
In an interview reported by the Five-Star North Stand on May 11, the 37-year-old midfielder reflected on his current form and future plans. “In the near future, I’ll first concentrate on the next couple of years—this year and next. For myself, I feel I can still contribute more to the team and to my own career.”
Having made 10 appearances in the 2026 Chinese Super League season so far, scoring one goal and providing two assists, Wu Xi added: “Later on, if the opportunity arises, I’ll certainly strive to give more for the team, for the final stages of my career, or even to open a new chapter.”
The veteran midfielder’s words underscore his continued commitment to Shanghai Shenhua as he looks to extend his influence both on and off the pitch.
