In a game between the Dodgers and Giants on Tuesday (Wednesday Japan time) at Dodger Stadium, starting pitcher Yamamoto Yoshinobu (27) exited with one out in the seventh inning trailing 2-3, missing out on his fourth win of the season.

Reliever Trienen took over with one out and runners on first and third in the seventh. Yamamoto threw 93 pitches over 6 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and five earned runs.

On this day, he surrendered a solo home run to No. 9 hitter Brett Wisely in the second inning, and then in the fifth, he allowed back-to-back homers to No. 8 hitter Jon Berti and again to Wisely, giving up the lead. This marked a career-worst three home runs allowed in a single game. While Yamamoto had previously allowed two homers in a game five times, this was the first time he gave up three long balls. The rookie right-hander’s outing was once again marred by the long ball.

Shohei Ohtani (31) also started as the designated hitter batting leadoff for the Dodgers.
